Our goal has been to get kids outdoors, away from their gadgets and sharing with them about the Ocean through Sport Fishing. Today, we are not allowed to run our sessions due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Malaysia, kids are glued to the screens (even for school) and excitement peaks when the postman arrives with your online shopping haul.
So we decided to do something about it. Over the weekend I participated in the #SundayFishSketch and #shapesketchgame challenge on Twitter where a theme is shared every week and anyone/everyone can share their version of the sketch with the hashtags on Sundays.
Young and Old, artists and just plain bored individuals (like myself) shared their artwork and through the hashtag I was entertained for a good hour taking in everyone’s interpretation of fish within the shape provided.

I could not help but feel this was a great idea for kids to get creative; but how do I keep that creativity going, give them a much needed time-out from the gadgets and still educate about our Ocean. Why am I stopping at kids when I thoroughly enjoyed it myself?

Every first and third week of the month we will have our own #SundayFishSketch, where anyone and everyone can share their interpretation of Fish based on the theme provided through any medium of art they wish. Here is where we put our own spin on it, once you have submitted the artwork to us, we will mail out an envelope addressed to the artist, this could be your child (or even to you, why not) with fish stickers, ocean facts and many other fun stuff… FOR FREE.
#SundayFishSketch and #MilkfishMail, to get everyone off their devices, allows us to share about the Ocean through the tried and tested (for centuries) happiness method of MAIL.
Submit your artwork to us online via Messenger on our Facebook Page or email it to us at hello@themilkfishlady.com , we will acknowledge receiving it and will proceed to mail out the letters to our aspiring ocean artists, young and old.
All artwork must be submitted by 11:59pm on the first and third Sunday of the month, based on the theme provided. We will put together the submissions for viewing on our Facebook Page with a preview on Instagram the week after.

As much as we love to provide this services and spread the fun all around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic restricts us to only Singapore and Malaysia for our Milkfish Mail. Nonetheless, we invite everyone to join in the fun and when all is well again, we would love to extend Milkfish Mail to whomever participating around the world.
Milkfish Mail is put together by our staff; safely, sanitized and adhering to procedures of having both Masks and Gloves on during our packing process.
